  Author's Statements

[  Top  ]
I create forms that can be worn.

I put a lot care into their realization: lay-out,
proportions, tactile feeling, choice of metal
and colour.

They must be pleasing to the eye, I always
try to visualize them worn.

Design is of primary importance.

I usually try not to depict anything, but to
fulfill a particular necessity of mine.

Initially it is a spontaneous happening of signs
and marks, gestures, sketches, far from the
end product.

I work with modular structures or single
elemental forms.

My work always embodies a duality.

The modular structures are to be read as a
whole, to be worn and used as objects,
therefore enabling the wearer to play with them.

There is somewhat of a surprise element in them.

In my work what matters mostly for my
personal involvement is the "making".

The creative process is composed of so many
moments, it is a sensation.

1986 Giorgio Cecchetto

[  Top  ]

I have travelled across the field of geometrical
abstraction, of its rationality and its laws.

I have played with solids and yhe modular
combinations in which they fall, but a continual
sense of curiosity pushes me onwards.

From the creative intuition to the completed work,
all my work is a search for the harmony of form.

By blowing up volumes and increasing surfaces,
and placing them up against one another, I have
attempted to obtain a balance of forms.

The objects thus produced remind me of the
natural shapes of minerals and shells, stones and
flotsam smoothed down by the infinite patience
of the sea. As in a child’s game they are
transformed, becoming part of the fantastic
world of dreams.

Every shape created must contain in itself the
vital force of the material from which it has grown.

I believe that matter contains the energy
necessary to express the life in the language of
the universe.

1992 Giorgio Cecchetto
